Reading Model Classroom

Introduction

Model Classroom is the first level of Renaissance Certification for an individual classroom. This certification level recognizes your ability to help students focus on a common goal-becoming better readers. You can achieve Model Classroom Certification in just 12 weeks, and you can begin at any time!

Enrolment Form

To enrol into the Renaissance Certification programme, simply fill in our online Enrolment Form.

Criteria

To certify for Model Classroom, you must meet the following criteria in one classroom for any 12-week period (60 days of school).
  • Implement Accelerated Reader best classroom practices as identified by the techniques listed on the Model Classroom Checklist.
  • Primary Schools-30 minutes of daily reading practice.
  • Secondary Schools-20 minutes of daily reading practice.
  • Median of points earned is equal to or greater than the expected points based on the target setting chart.
  • No more than 10% of students average less than 90% correct on Reading Practice quizzes.
  • For established readers, at least 80% of points earned is from independent reading practice - rather than "Read to" or "Read with."
  • No more than 10% of students "at risk" (codes showing on diagnostic report.)

What to Submit

Once you have achieved the Model Classroom criteria, submit the following documents to Renaissance Learning. (Click on the underlined documents below to view and print them.)
  1. Reading Model classroom application
  2. Model classroom survey/questionnaire
  3. Model classroom checklist
  4. Qualifying 12-week Classroom Diagnostic-Reading Practice Report
  5. STAR Reading Summary Report. (If your school does not use STAR Reading software, please submit a list of class reading ages.)
