The National Literacy Trust works to change lives by empowering people with the literacy skills they need to achieve their goals. It is an independent charity and the only organisation in the UK that works to promote literacy across all age groups.

Improving literacy is a challenge that reaches beyond formal education and impacts on people of all ages. We work to harness the skills and resources of all those sectors of society that can contribute to the achievement in the UK of the highest possible literacy standards for children and adults. We are committed to working in a collaborative way via support and networking, enquiry, advocacy, the dissemination of good practices and direct delivery.

Our programs are delivered through schools, libraries, prisons, early years and community settings. These include the National Reading Campaign, the Family Reading Campaign, Reading Is Fundamental, UK, Reading The Game, Talk To Your Baby and The Vital Link.
