Success Stories about Accelerated Maths (primary)
Pupils at St. Andrews CE Primary School Accelerate in Maths
Christine Shreeves, Assistant Headteacher at St Andrews CE Primary School, in Hitchin has been actively using the Accelerated Maths program with Years 3, 4, 5 and 6."It is always difficult to quantify, but certainly our SATS results at KS2 have improved during the period we have been using the Accelerated Maths program. Pupils develop an independence of learning, they are motivated by the program and enjoy the challenge it can bring."
Accelerated Maths helps boost SATs results
An After School Accelerated Maths Project involving parent volunteers has been helping to raise standards of attainment at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School. The Club uses the Accelerated Maths software developed by Renaissance Learning and runs for four evenings per week. The pupils have christened it the 'Whizz Kids Club'. The Club itself is co-ordinated and run by Mrs Kerris Torkington, a teaching assistant at the School.Mr Aelred Whelan, Headteacher of the school, went on to say:
"This is one of a range of
initiatives here at Sacred Heart, which are making a real impact on standards. With the
Whizz Kids Club and Accelerated Maths, we have taken a very good idea and turned it
into a real focus of teamwork between staff, parents and pupils to raise standards. One
of the most important features for the pupils is the immediate feedback they receive on
how well they have done on a particular worksheet, and the fact that Accelerated Maths
ensures that the worksheets produced are tailored to meet each pupil’s individual
learning needs in a particular area. Above all, the pupils love it! They are seeing
success and improvement on a daily basis that has really enhanced their self-esteem.
This, for me, has been the greatest success story of the project."
